Jury awards $550,000 over lost eyesight
3/10/2006
A federal court jury awarded Robert Miller Sr. $550,000 for loss of sight in his left eye.
The verdict found Sevylor Inc., a manufacturer of tubes or flotation rings used at water parks, liable in Miller's case. Miller slipped in the pool of a Jamaican resort water park in March 2003 while on vacation and was struck in the eye by the hard, plastic handle on the tube he was using.
After medical treatment and surgery, Miller was left blind in the eye.
