Jury awards $5.25M to children of man killed by drunk driver

A jury awarded $5.25 million to the two children of a Miami-Dade judge killed by a drunk driver.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Steven Levine and his passenger, Lourdes Maldonado, were killed instantly when a pickup truck, driven by Jose Hernandez, ran a stop sign and smashed into his Corvette at an intersection. Hernandez was convicted of two counts of manslaughter and two counts of culpable negligence in the case and is currently serving a 24-year prison sentence.
The jury awarded $2.125 million each to Levine's children Madison, 16, and Jake, 14.
