Nursing Home Chain, California AG settle lawsuit for $1M 3/13/2006 A $1 million settlement was reached in a case against Pleasant Care Corporation, the second largest nursing home chain in California. The lawsuit stems from allegations of elder abuse and criminally negligent care and more than 160 citations issued against Pleasant Care Corp. by the California Dept. of Health Services. According to legal documents, in addition to the $1 million settlement, Pleasant Care will also have to reimburse the state for $350,000 in investigative costs.
